About This Cause
With Insight Education, runs mentoring programmes that are designed to specifically tackle the barriers that black-heritage pupils face to their successful progression into higher education and the professions. Set up in 2018, the charity has empowered over a thousand students to gain the confidence, knowledge and soft skills to secure a more prosperous future. A future where they have improved access to top universities, professional employment and opportunities for social mobility. Through partnerships with aspirational universities such as Imperial College London and leading organisations such as Amazon Prime Video, 85% of their sixth form mentees progress to leading universities, 97% develop employability skills and 96% of their Year 9 & 10 mentees report increased motivation to work harder to get great grades. Our mentoring programmes have made a huge difference to young people like Imani from our Elevate careers programme. Imani joined the Elevate Career Mentoring programme that we ran with Aon as she thought that it would be a useful way to, "bridge the gap between knowing where you want to go and then learning how to get there.” “Having someone listen to where you want to go and support you, to have them say, “I’ll see you when you’re there in a few years,” makes all the difference." Imani is now studying Law at a leading university and last year volunteered as a mentor on our Insight2Uni programme, evidencing the ongoing impact of our work.
