About This Cause
Women Who Build is on a mission to empower female students to consider founding companies as a career path while at university. The 98% opportunity: Only 2% of venture capital reaches women founders today. This isn't just a gap – it's an unprecedented opportunity for the global economy. The world's most valuable companies – Apple, Google, Amazon – all started as startups. Breaking glass ceilings tomorrow means fixing how companies get built today. The company-building engine is broken. At WWB, we're on a mission to fix it. We’re starting where potential begins to unfold: universities. Somewhere in a university classroom right now, the next world-changing company is taking shape in someone's mind. The old system would have missed her. This stops now. That 2% isn't our ceiling. It's where we start. Since February 2024, Women Who Build has: - Grown to 2,000+ members across 35+ universities - Hosted 350+ attendees at our panel events, Immersion Days and Pitch Academy in London - Mentored 150+ students with 100+ founders, senior startup operators and tier-1 investors - Educated 70+ students on delivering a compelling pitch through our online pitch course - Published 60+ editions of our newsletter with an average open rate of ~70% - Secured 8+ institutional partnerships, including Balderton Capital (official sponsor), Google for Startups, Felix Capital, Slush, Entrepreneur First, baby vc, HSBC and White & Case. In 2025, Women Who Build is on a mission to: 1. Grow the Pool:From 2,000+ members and 35+ universities to graduates in every university. Shaping a new generation that sees founding as a natural path. Via a powerful Student Ambassador network. 2. Create Constellations: Connect rising stars with those who blazed the trail via the WWB Next-Gen Fellowship. 3. Share Truth: Give role models a platform to share real stories proving the impossible becomes inevitable. Inspiring and authentic panels at European tech institutions to empower and inspire. 4. Give Real Tools: Equip founders with the skills to turn bold dreams into reality. A world-class Pitch Academy. Direct paths to incubators and funding. 5.
