Mission Statement
Our vision is to provide all groups within the community with access to affordable yet impactful provision which contributes to their mental wellbeing, social inclusion, and sense of belonging in the community.
About This Cause
Infinite Wellbeing is a Community Centre situated in the heart of Heanor. As a Community Interest Company, founded and led by local residents, Infinite’s vision for the Centre is to offer a community space which brings together all sections of the community, reduces social isolation, and improves the mental wellbeing of everyone. Within the Centre, we have created a Community Café, a Role Play Area, and a Community Hall. It is within these spaces that we host various activities and events for community members of all ages. Our team is a great mix of ages, all with varied skills and qualities. One thing they all possess is the love and passion to make a difference and have a positive impact on the community. We also welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds and offer training and support to both paid and unpaid staff in order to build confidence, self-esteem, skills and qualifications. We are proud to be a Safe Space who are able to signpost vulnerable members of the community to support. We are also SEND friendly and breast/chest feeding friendly, and we have a quiet space available for anyone who needs to use it. As part of the Community Café, we also run a Youth Café. Our local young people are encouraged and supported in running the Youth Café to learn valuable work-related skills and training. We run Youth Provision three times a week with sessions including cooking, dance, sports, crafts and games. These sessions are based on what the young people have asked for and are part of our efforts to reduce antisocial behaviour in the town as well and build positive relationships, a sense of purpose and skills. The young people also know they are welcome to pop along at any time and use the Community Centre as a safe, warm space. The Role Play Area has been especially developed to promote speech and language development in young children through play-based activities, role play and Rhyme Time Sessions that we have on offer throughout the week. Our Messy Play Sessions are designed to support curricular learning and focus on different skills each session, such as, colours, quantities, fine motor development, texture and the use of a variety of media. Alongside these activities, we run Fun and Fit three times a week for children to take part in physical activities with their parents and carers. All these activities are included in the subsidised entrance fee of £5 per family. Our Community Hall is available to hire at a subsidised rate to make it affordable for local groups. It is regularly used by Scout groups, Guides, several local WI groups, and other community groups. The hall is also used for our HAF provision as it has an attached kitchen, which is useful in delivering the food and nutrition element of HAF. On a weekly basis, we offer a wide variety of activities to suit a broad age range. Our weekly timetable includes physical activities, such as boxing, self-defence, dance, standing and adapted seated Tai Chi, chair-based exercise, and SEND adult fitness sessions. We host family evenings, such as movie nights and game nights, where families can spend quality time together trying new things and having fun. Other activities include lunchtime quizzes, craft sessions, and regular guest speakers including Time Swap, Cuppa with a Copper, and even a Funeral Directors Q&A session. We are well connected to many local organisations and businesses, and work in collaboration with them wherever possible. We have built a strong relationship with our Safer Neighbourhood Team, who often pop in, which has helped them to build even better relationships with community members. There is a display stand for local businesses to sell their goods and space for the advertisement of service and support. We also work with Make/Shift to offer a co-working space in order to reduce social isolation for those who work from home and to offer positive networking opportunities for a number of organisations each week. We understand the importance of everyone taking care of their mental health. Therefore, we offer various sessions to help promote and maintain good levels of mental health including access to our CPD-accredited Wellbeing Programme, Happy Café, Semicolon mental health support sessions for young people, sound baths, and other complementary therapies. We are aware of the current Cost of Living Crisis and, as well as selling subsidised healthy food and drinks through our Community Café, we work to help our local community by providing free sanitary products and personal hygiene packages, free produce from local shops, along with care packages when needed.
