Mission Statement

Marie Curie Cancer Care is a UK charity dedicated to the care of people with terminal illnesses. In 2013-14 we helped 40,884 people.

About This Cause

Marie Curie Nurses We are best known for our network of nearly 2,000 Marie Curie Nurses, who work in the homes of terminally ill patients across the UK, providing practical care and support. During 2013-14, our nurses provided more than 1.3 million hours of nursing to 31,558 patients, along with support for their families. Marie Curie Hospices Our nine Marie Curie Hospices across the UK provide expert care and the best quality of life for people with terminal illnesses. We are the biggest provider of hospice beds outside the NHS, and we are expanding outpatient and day services at all our hospices. Our hospices reached 8,931 people in 2013-14. There are Marie Curie Hospices in Belfast, Bradford, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Hampstead (London), Liverpool, Newcastle, Penarth (near Cardiff) and Solihull. Research Marie Curie Cancer Care is a leader in research into the best ways of caring for people with terminal illnesses, and how care could be improved in future. We have our own research teams, and we fund external research programmes. Campaigning for patients We campaign for more patients to be able to be cared for and die in their place of choice. Research shows around 63 per cent of people would like to die at home if they had a terminal illness, with a sizeable minority opting for hospice care.
