Mission Statement
Founded in 1886, the BSA is a UK-registered charity and is one of a network of British International Research Institutes (BIRI) that receive annual funding from the British Academy. The BSA exists to promote research of international excellence in all disciplines pertaining to Greek lands, from fine art to archaeometry and in all periods to modern times.
About This Cause
The mission of the British School at Athens (BSA) is to conduct, facilitate, and promote research of international excellence across all humanities and social science disciplines in Greece and its surrounding regions, from the Palaeolithic to the present day. It serves as the UK's hub for advanced research in these fields, with a strong history in archaeological research at famous sites like Knossos and Mycenae. The BSA achieves its mission through academic programs, a renowned library, its Fitch Laboratory for science-based archaeology, publications, and support for researchers.
