Mission Statement
Papworth Trust is a leading disability charity which has been helping disabled people for nearly 100 years. We provide support to people with all disabilities from birth throughout their lives; we also support their families and carers. Today we help nearly 20,000 individuals in Cambridgeshire and the East of England.
About This Cause
Papworth Trust is a leading disability charity. Our vision is a world where disabled people are seen for what they can do, and our mission is for disabled people to have equality, choice and independence. Our work includes providing a range of high quality services for disabled and disadvantaged people and campaigning for changes that disabled people want. Our essential support is based upon the individual’s needs and can range from supplying accessible housing, to adapting homes, to providing support workers, allowing disabled people to stay in their homes for longer. We have several centres throughout the East of England for disabled adults to attend and learn new skills and socialise with others. We also hold youth clubs to encourage disabled teenagers to interact with their peers. We run social enterprises with three community café’s and a bicycle recycle/refurbish programme in Sawston. These enterprises provide disabled people vocational training in a real life working environment. Across the whole of England we also run a Vocational Rehabilitation service with a comprehensive programme to support people who have had a life changing injury as a result of an accident, trauma or ill health. The aim of this service is to get individuals back into full time employment: this may require adaptations to their existing role or opening up new opportunities.
