Mission Statement

The NSPCC exists to end cruelty to children

About This Cause

We know that 1 in 5 children and young people grow up experiencing abuse or neglect. Yet most cases could have been prevented, and sadly, barely any of these children will receive support they desperately need. We're here to help protect children today and prevent abuse from happening tomorrow. The NSPCC exists to change this, by fighting to: • Protect Children: Last year, Childline, delivered 295,000 counselling sessions to children across the UK. In 2016 our children’s therapy centres helped 8,017 children and families get their lives back on track. • Prevent Abuse: We visit primary schools across the UK, to teach children how to keep themselves safe from abuse. Last year, we managed to reach 1.6 million children. "I didn't realise my life wasn't normal, I thought it was ok to be sad. I now know that I have people I can talk to” A child’s feedback after an NSPCC Schools Service Visit. • Transform Society: For every child to have a life free from abuse we must raise awareness, change behaviours, and give communities the knowledge to stay safe. Our sexual abuse prevention campaign PANTS - has reached 400,000 parents. With the support of O2 we have helped 4.6 million parents know how to keep their child safe online But all this is only possible with your support. As an independent charity, which receives around 90% of its funding from supporters, we rely on the support of people like you to make sure we can keep every child who needs us safe. Every pound raised and every penny received will help make sure we can reach more children.
