About This Cause
At the Renewal Programme, we are dedicated to addressing the root causes and far-reaching impacts of poverty, isolation, and disadvantage in the London Borough of Newham. Guided by our core values of dignity, inclusion, collaboration, and empowerment, we strive to create a community where everyone can thrive. We offer comprehensive support to Newham residents facing diverse challenges. Our services include housing, food, advocacy, volunteer opportunities, youth services, young carers provision, education, and immigration advice. Our goal is to empower individuals to achieve independence and self-sufficiency. While our doors are open to all local residents, we focus on those who often fall through the cracks of statutory and societal support, particularly those experiencing severe or multiple disadvantages. Our vibrant Community Hub is a cornerstone of our efforts, hosting twice-weekly food banks, advice sessions, and enrichment activities that foster social engagement. We also provide energy advice sessions to help residents reduce their carbon footprint and lower their bills, and we run a programme aimed at reducing food waste in Newham. Our Youth Service offers a variety of positive activities for young people, with a special focus on young carers through our dedicated project. Impressively, over 90% of learners in our adult education programme achieve accredited qualifications. Our Refugee and Migrant Programme (RAMP) is a lifeline for many, offering immigration advice sessions and assisting with home office applications and appeals. Additionally, our homeless hostels provide safe shelter for 42 residents, offering them a chance to move forward positively in their lives.
