Mission Statement
Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity supporting 16-25 year olds across the UK. Our mission is to give homeless young people a future and to end youth homelessness.
About This Cause
Every year 110,000 young people approach their local council for help with homelessness and this is a growing issue. The reasons as to why young people find themselves homeless vary and are also out of their control. Centrepoint works in a sustainable and long-term manner to combat the issue of youth homelessness. We provide vulnerable young people with a safe and secure home, the specialist support they need to rebuild their mental and physical health, and the skills and training they need to get into further education or employment. Health - 74 per cent of young people receiving support from Centrepoint’s Psychotherapy and Mental Health team reduce the severity of their symptoms. Learning - 78 per cent of Centrepoint residents who took Centrepoint Works training courses in 2018/19 finished with a qualification. Helpline - The first of its kind, our Helpline offers advice to anyone in England aged 16-25 who needs help with homelessness. Engagement - 87 per cent of participants in our Engagement programme reported an increase in confidence and self-esteem after taking part. Ever since Centrepoint was founded in a church basement in Soho, we’ve focused on improving the lives of homeless young people. Thanks to our amazing supporters, we’re now able to reach 15,000 homeless young people each year. Young people that come to Centrepoint are able to stay with us for up to two years. An amazing 88 per cent of these young people then move into their own homes, reconnect with their families, get their first jobs or go to university.
