About This Cause
The Water of Leith Conservation Trust’s mission is to conserve and enhance the Water of Leith as a haven for biodiversity and be an educational and recreational resource for all. The first river charity to be established in Scotland, as guardians of the River we strive to raise the profile of this key environmental asset, and promote community action to help the River. Regular volunteer clean-ups and habitat creation projects improve the health of the river valley. Our interactive Visitor Centre, the Water of Leith Walkway, and extensive events, education and group visit programmes ensure that everyone has the opportunity to discover more about Edinburgh’s hidden natural asset. With nearly 30 years experience as guardians of the river we are a well respected and valued group within the Edinburgh’s environmental community and voluntary sector
