Mission Statement
Our vision A time when people experiencing mental ill-health are not defined by their mental health, but feel accepted and valued, and free of stigma and discrimination. Our mission To be the best we can in supporting and enabling people to have good mental health; to help them develop their full potential, realise their hopes and aspirations and to lead fulfilling lives. Our principles and values Changing social attitudes and behaviours: No person should be defined by their mental health nor should any person be treated unfairly or discriminated against because of their mental health. Respect and dignity: Everyone is entitled to respect and dignity when receiving care and support. Everyone should be listened to and treated with compassion and understanding. Open and inclusive: At the heart of why we exist and what we do are people whose lives are affected by mental ill-health, their carers and families. We should learn from them of what is important and needs to change if we are to support them to take care of their mental health and wellbeing, and to claim that ownership. Integrity and accountability: As mental health advocates we must demonstrate our professional integrity at all times in what we say and do.
About This Cause
Action in Mind is the leading local mental health charity predominantly working across the Stirling Council area, supporting better mental health for everyone. We provide person-centred, outcome focused services for people from the age of 18 years experiencing low to moderate mental health conditions as well as people living with long-term chronic mental illnesses. We work closely with Stirling Council, NHS Forth Valley and Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health & Social Care Partnership. We provide an Information & Signposting Service about how and where to access mental health support and any other enquiries relating to mental health. We accept enquiries from anyone affected by, or interested in mental health, by telephone or email. Our services include Counselling for adults experiencing mild to moderate symptoms of depression, anxiety or stress. We offer volunteer-based Befriending for adults (aged 18 and over). This service takes place in the local community for people who are socially isolated due to their mental health. The Hub Service is focused on peer support and group activities such as health and well-being; social group work; skills learning and mental health self-management. Our Home Support Service provides housing support to people in their own homes and communities across the whole Forth Valley area, funded through self-directed support, for people experiencing severe or enduring symptoms of mental health and who may require intensive support over short periods or support in self-management over longer periods. Regulated by the Care Inspectorate, the service can only be accessed via social services across the Stirling, Clackmannanshire or Falkirk Councils and undertaking a needs-based assessment. The Rural Outreach Service works with clients and their families affected by mental health in rural and remote communities of Stirlingshire. More information on all services can be found on our website.
