Mission Statement
The Green Team supports young people to connect with nature, others and themselves. We provide opportunities for children and young people to take part in fun, outdoor activities that make a practical difference to the natural environment, support learning, nurture positive wellbeing and develop life skills.
About This Cause
The Green Team was established in 1995 to provide environmental volunteering opportunities to young people. Since then the organisation has grown and now delivers a variety of programmes - each with their unique blend of: - practical conservation work: making a tangible difference to local greenspaces - skills development: increasing confidence, communication and teamwork skills - fun and adventure: games, exploring new places and learning wilderness survival skills - nature connection: improved appreciation and understanding of the natural world - therapeutic activities: supporting respite and improved wellbeing through nature - achieving awards: including the DofE award scheme and the John Muir Discovery award - outdoor education: learning through play, interaction, arts and crafts and storytelling We run programmes for children and young people of all ages and backgrounds - there really is something for everybody! "This day has given me the opportunity to do something to take care of myself and give something back to nature too. That feels really good” Young Person In 2019 we worked with over 1100 young people and delivered 297 sessions in the outdoors. We are an inclusive organisations providing activities for all young people, and ensuring that we don't forget those who may not have access to such opportunities or who may have a greater need for our programmes. We have seen a rare difference in our son since the group" Parent In addition to our work with young people, we run opportunities for adult volunteering, corporate volunteering and teambuilding. We couldn't do the amazing work that we do without the generous support of volunteers and donors.
