Mission Statement

Renfrewshire Sports Charity enhance the lives of the Renfrewshire community through physical activity, education and sport.

About This Cause

In March of 2014 Pro-Life Fitness Centre set a president by becoming the first independent private health & fitness club to be ‘donated’ to charity; And so Renfrewshire Sports Charity was formed, taking over the day to day operations and management of the club from 1st May 2014. Renfrewshire Sports Charity enhance the lives of the Renfrewshire community through physical activity, education and sport. We actively promote the advancement of public participation in sport and provide recreational facilities and relief for those in need be that by reason of age, ill health, disability, financial hardship or other disadvantage. We also act as a 'grant giving' foundation by providing support financially, through the provision of volunteering and additional assistance to charities, individuals and other groups within the vicinity of Renfrewshire including, but not exclusively, to our main partners Accord Hospice & St Vincent's Hospice, to whom we donate our profits. One of our greatest achievements so far is the amazing work we are doing with the many talented athletes & teams whom we sponsor, we now have over 100! We provide training facilities, fitness testing, sport specific programming and sport specific nutritional plans to all of our sponsored athletes as well as some financial help towards the purchase of ‘kit’ competition and travel costings not only this but we endeavour to support all of them by providing as much media, publicity and press coverage as we can. We are creating a community of local sporting heroes and champions as we are the official gym partner and sponsor of many great local teams: St Mirren Football Club, West Coast Trojans American Foootball Team, Kelburne Hockey Club, Paisley Pirates Ice Hockey Team, Renfrews Ladies FC, Scottish Rockettes Cheerleading Squad And all of our individual athletes across many sports from Judo, Boxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Body Building, Powerlifting, Cycling, Gymnastics & Swimming are all performing at National, British, European and World Championship level and winning…it’s an exciting time. We are a centre of excellence and as such the official training centre for CYQ YMCA & Diverse training which means that we can provide health & fitness qualifications in Gym Instructor, Personal Trainer, Nutrition & Exercise to music to those groups with a genuine passion for the fitness industry, helping to improve their education and employability skills. We provide memberships, support & education to Children's care associations and charities such as Kibble Education & Care as well as The Good Shepherd Centre for young people in Bishopton and we aim to actively encourage other similar organisations such as Spark Of Genius & Action For Children to follow suit. Over the course of the past two years we have actively supported and formed close relationships with organisations in Renfrewshire such as RAMH, Choose Life, ROAR, The Thistle Foundation and Renfrewshire Young Carers and due to this our vision going forward is to create community projects & health initiatives with these partners so that we can provide a motivational, positive environment for those suffering from mental health issues, stress, addictions, isolation, grief, ill health and abuse, not only do we want to make a difference in our community, we know we can as we firmly believe in the positive effect Physical activity can have in changing the lives of so many different groups of individuals from all circumstances, capabilities and walks of life. Currently we are awaiting funding approval so that we may roll out two new projects with Street Stuff for children living in poverty stricken areas and also with the Thistle Foundation whom we have created a Lifestyle management project for men aged between 35-55 who are struggling with mental health issues as well as conditions brought about by coronary heart disease and poor nutrition. We are a fledgling charity with a big mission and the support and encouragement from organisations such as Benevity would make all the difference to our resources going forward so that we can successfully see our hard work and goals come to fruition.
