About This Cause
Founded in 1905, The Iris Network is one of the oldest nonprofit organizations in Maine. We specialize in providing integrated, consumer-driven vision rehabilitation, access technology, and vocational services to individuals with significant visual impairment or blindness (ranging from teenagers to centenarians). With over a century of experience in serving people with visual impairment, we empower them with the necessary resources for independent living and work. Our services encompass vision rehabilitation, orientation and mobility instruction, personal adjustment counseling, low vision assessment, pre-vocational rehabilitation; identification of suitable tools and technologies to maximize visual function; and continuous training in various settings including home, work, and community.
