The mission of the YWCA is to eliminate racism and empower women while promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
About This Cause
For 141 years, the YWCA has been serving the families in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area guided by a belief in appreciation of diversity and equitable opportunity for all people in our community. To that end, the YWCA's programs work toward the realization of gender and racial equity through providing accessible, inclusive, and culturally appropriate resources for health and wellness, recreation, and childcare to families in our community. The YWCA Central Maine is a community center that brings this simple yet profound social justice mission to fruition through providing affordable, culturally-responsive services, social justice programming, and advocacy. The organization provides childcare, aquatic health, wellness services, and empowerment programming that prioritizes immigrant, refugee, and asylee women and girls.The YWCA Central Maine offers the only fully accessible regulation-size community pool in the greater Lewiston-Auburn area.The YWCA provides programs for women, children, youth, and families.
