Mission Statement
Maine Children's Home (MCH) builds and strengthens families and their children, instilling hope for the future and a better quality of life.
About This Cause
Maine Children’s Home (MCH) is a 501(c)(3) organization offering family-focused services for a brighter future. Founded in 1899, the organization has evolved over the years with the changing needs of families and children. MCH supports individuals and families of all ages throughout the state of Maine through four core programs that provide essential items during the winter-holiday months, young-parent support, mental health counseling, and adoption services: *Family Adoption Program Providing a lifetime of support services for birth parents and adoptive families, MCH is also the only Hague-accredited adoption agency licensed in the state of Maine. *Family Counseling Center Guiding toward hope, healing, and wholeness through outpatient clinical counseling for children, youth, and their guardians or parents. *Journey Program Supporting pregnant and parenting young people on their path to self-worth, positive parenting, and stable adult lives (formerly known as the Teen Parent Education Program). *Christmas / Winter Essentials Program Sharing joy and winter warmth with children, youth, and families facing financial hardship through personalized winter care packages and additional resources. MCH is a Community. The work of MCH would not be possible without the expertise and commitment of its caring staff, as well as the support and compassion of many donors, sponsors, and volunteers. Many members of the MCH community share connections with the organization that span decades. Some individuals who once needed support from a program returned to MCH later in their lives to help others as they had once been helped. Community is what achieves the MCH mission.
