The mission of The Music Hall is to present the very best of diverse performing and related arts at The Music Hall as an active and vital arts center for the enrichment of the Seacoast community.

About This Cause

A landmark destination, an economic driver, and a catalyst for renewal, The Music Hall is one of the largest performing arts organization in the state of New Hampshire, featuring curated entertainment from around the world in two downtown Portsmouth venues: one, a landmark 1878 Victorian theater; the other the intimate Loft opened in 2011. Important in history and in the lives of Seacoast residents for over 140 years, The Music Hall brings nationally and internationally acclaimed artists to this small city, making world-class performing arts accessible to the region. During its history, The Music Hall's curtain has risen on legendary artists including Mark Twain, John Philip Sousa, and John, Ethel, and Lionel Barrymore. More recently, notable artists have included author Margaret Atwood, filmmaker Ken Burns, musician Kamasi Washington, singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan, and comedian Trevor Noah.
