Mission Statement
The Johnston Partnership is a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization that has been serving the community almost 20 years and is led by an all-volunteer board. Mission Statement: Mobilizing partnerships, resources, and services to respond to essential community needs
About This Cause
JPHC maintains a Clothing Closet and DMARC Food Pantry, and It is open 3 days a week at our physical location: 5870 Merle Hay Road, Suite C in Johnston. We currently serve about 2,600 individuals each month, providing food, personal care products and clothing. We partner with many local organizations and donors to ensure we can meet the needs of those who come to us. We consider ourselves human services for Johnston, as we work to offer such seasonal offerings as a Back to School Clinic ensuring students have all the supplies they need to start school, holiday gifts for JCSD students (Johnston Gives), community gardens for more fresh produce offerings, and more. JUMP is a one-to-one mentoring program that facilitates two types of mentoring for Johnston students. Students in grades 6-12 participating in the community mentoring program meet with a volunteer community mentor for one class period each week during the school day. Students involved in Achievement Mentoring are in grades 6-9. They are matched with a school staff member who meets with them on a weekly basis. Achievement mentors also talk to their mentees teachers weekly and send positive communication home to parents monthly. Mentors in both programs are positive role models who listen and help set goals while reinforcing basic skills, attitudes and other lessons in life. Students involved Students involved in the program are also eligible for additional services including grade level transition support, post secondary planning, family education, job shadowing and service learning opportunities. We currently have over 110 student/mentor matches. We are proud to administer the Dragon Power & Friday Friends weekend food programs that cover all of the buildings/students in the JCSD. Both of these programs provide food during each weekend of the school year, filling gaps when free/reduced breakfasts and lunches are not available to children experiencing food insecurity. There are over 250 students who receive these food items each week of the school year, and which program a student enrolls in depends on their school building.
