A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO) is a 501(c)3 non-profit the provides orthopedic care to children in the developing world as a means of offering them the physical capabilities to access the opportunities and self-esteem earned through education, work and mobility.
About This Cause
A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO) provides free prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices and appropriately fitted wheelchairs, to children in developing countries who have lost their limbs in traumatic accidents or suffer from congenital limb disabilities. Our mission is to help transform the lives of such children by offering them the physical capabilities needed to access the opportunities and self-esteem earned through education, work and mobility. ALTSO has provided high-quality continuous care until the age of 21 for all patients treated under ALTSO’s programs. Since 2003, our programs in Asia, Africa, and Latin America have provided free orthopedic care to more than 18,500 children in need.
