Mission Statement
Universal Door Meditation Center, founded by Awakened Zen Master Thich Dieu Thien has been helping people of all backgrounds, cultures, races, religions, and ages to live with true happiness and true love, free from stress, anger, anxiety, hatred, and all suffering. Since her Awakening in 2001, the Awakened teacher has been Waking Up people, opening their wisdom mind so they know who they truly are and not, guiding them step by step to return to Awake Home and liberate the source of suffering. Wake Up to live truly happy, fresh, open, alive, with clarity and purpose!
About This Cause
Universal Door Meditation Center was founded in 2003 by Zen Master Thich Dieu Thien in Houston, Texas. She established UDMC as a place open to people of all ages, cultures, religions, and backgrounds to come and listen, discover more about themselves, and live truly happy and free in everyday life. Her primary teaching is that “You Are Awake”; within each person, there is already the Awake mind which is clear, stable, and unconditionally happy. However, it has been covered by the many aspects of the false mind or illusion: attachments to perceptions, habits, beliefs, and patterns that block us from realizing who we are and who we are not. The stress and conflicts of life are common, but not normal. We do not have to continue to live that way, because there is a clear, experiential, proven Wake Up path the Awakened Zen Master guides us step by step to experience the Awake mind, and finally to return to Awake Home, our original true home and completely liberate the source of suffering. The normal functions at UDMC include weekly meditation classes in both Vietnamese and English, healing mind and body "movement meditation" class, an outstanding youth & teens program every Sunday, an active Parents group, weekly public dharma talks, monthly retreats (one, three, or five days in length), workshops, ceremonies, and special events.
