Mission Statement

Mission: Rogue Farm Corps trains and equips the next generation of farmers and ranchers through hands-on educational programs and the preservation of Oregon’s farmland. Vision: RFC envisions a world in which land is deeply cared for, power is equitably shared, and farms, ranches, and the people who work them flourish.

About This Cause

Rogue Farm Corps is a state-wide, Oregon-based nonprofit organization that builds a more diverse, equitable, and resilient farming future through three branches of work: Beginning Farmer Training: > Apprenticeships provide on-farm job training and mentorship in regenerative agriculture for beginning farmers. > Beginning Farmer Educational Event Series (BFEES) delivers educational workshops and farm tours for aspiring farmers. > Regenerative Farming Fellowship provides entry-level job training in regenerative agriculture on regional nonprofit partner’s teaching farms. Future Farms: - Farm Launch helps a cohort of beginning farmers and ranchers write professional business plans and develop the business skills to launch their own agricultural operations. > Changing Hands Workshops connect new and retiring farmers with education and networking to support equitable farmland transfer with a focus on intergenerational networking. > Collaborative Farming Initiative provides support for farmers interested in pursuing collective models of farming. > 1-on-1 Technical Assistance provides RFC program graduates and other beginning farmers with 1:1 TA, coaching, and resource referral to help them achieve their agricultural goals. Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Initiatives > Future Farmer Fund provides scholarships for beginning/aspiring farmers from underserved / marginalized identities to participate in RFC programming. > Oregon Farm & Ranch Equity and Anti-racism Project (OFREAP) is a self-directed online educational opportunity for Oregon farmers, ranchers, and agricultural service providers to learn about, address, and dismantle racism within the food and farm systems and beyond. > Advocacy Training for state-wide policies that support our community of sustainably-focused farmers and ranchers. Organizational Values: Stewardship - protecting farmland and promoting agricultural practices that restore water, soil and biodiversity. Mentorship - sharing knowledge and experience across generations through hands-on, experiential education and learning. Collaboration - joining forces with partners and allies to advance shared goals and act together for a livable future. Systemic change - addressing disparities in the food system to achieve equitable access to education, training, land, and capital, and building diverse, adaptable communities able to thrive in a changing climate. RFC approaches all of our work through an equity lens, and we strive to make our programming inclusive of and welcoming to communities who have historically been under-represented as farmers in Oregon, including people of color, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, low-income individuals and immigrants. RFC is committed to an ongoing learning process around privilege, power, inequality, and systems of oppression. We will continue to use our organizational power to be an agent of positive change because we know that our mission and vision cannot be realized until we dismantle white supremacy, respect the rights of workers, and reckon with the legacy of land dispossession and systemic racism in agriculture.
