Mission Statement

Creating opportunities for refugees and immigrants to succeed through resettlement, education, career advancement and pathways to citizenship.

About This Cause

When refugees arrive in New England, the International Institute of New England greets their families at the airport, and gets started on Day 1 to move them into a new apartment, provide food and access to basic services, and get them on the road to their new life in the United States. Providing end-to-end care for refugees, asylum seekers, unaccompanied and separated children, and all immigrants for over 100 years, the International Institute of New England (IINE) helps thousands of people every year with legal aid, family reunification, case management, ESOL and vocational training and certifications, job placement, and more. Our specialized work helps clients in Boston, Lowell, and Manchester NH, and beyond, to stabilize families, prevent homelessness, navigate public benefits and legal systems, and achieve their goals. This critical work benefits vulnerable clients, while also investing local communities throughout New England as immigrants are able to better participate in an ambitious and diverse workforce. Since the beginning of the COVID-19 shutdowns, it has been found that over 68% of immigrants in the US are considered "essential workers" IINE's Healthcare Training certificate, and Certified Nursing Associate programs are parts of a larger healthcare and essential worker ecosystem that is powered by brilliant and dedicated immigrants and refugees who are often overlooked. Whether IINE is reunifying children with their families, supporting marital visas, citizenship, and green card access with affordable legal help, resettling newly arrived refugees, or helping immigrants from all walks of life achieve their career goals, we are dedicated to continue the 100-year legacy of welcoming the world's most vulnerable people. With continued partnership from community groups and philanthropists throughout New England, the Institute will continue this service for the next 100 years and beyond.
