Mission Statement
Gould Farm is a therapeutic community that promotes recovery for people living with mental health and related challenges through meaningful work, community living, and clinical care.
About This Cause
Founded in 1913 by Will and Agnes Gould, this healing community has welcomed people living with vulnerabilities for over a century. We provide residential treatment for people living with mental health challenges as well as a continuum of care that includes nonresidential options in the Berkshires and the Boston area. Residents are referred to as "Guests" and are welcomed into a kind, multi-generational community made up of the volunteers, staff, and families who live on the 700 acre farm. Guests work alongside peers and team leaders to provide for the community: baking bread in the Harvest Barn, tending the animals on the Farm team, growing produce and managing a CSA on the Garden team, maintaining our model forest and tapping maple trees on the F&G team, caring for children in our daycare program, and helping run our small cafe. Guests participate in their clinical care and are each partnered with a licensed clinical social worker that they meet with weekly for therapy. The clinical team includes a clinical director, social workers, a psychiatrist, a psychiatric RN, a nurse practitioner, and a transition counselor. Together they help guests optimize their medications, build skills for life-long recovery, and prepare for transition back into the larger community. Guests also participate in therapeutic groups and physical wellness programs that promote whole-person health. Gould Farm's continuum of care helps support Guests as they move out of residential treatment on the Farm and offers both residential and nonresidential options in the Berkshires and the Boston area. Our extended community program helps Guests find paid work, volunteer positions, and education opportunities as they work towards greater independence. While the average stay at the Farm is six months, Guests often stay in relationship with the community for years to come, joining us for special weekly meals, to celebrate holidays, and to maintain the connections that support their recovery. Gould Farm depends on the investment of its generous donors to continue providing financial aid to families and to remain a needs-blind organization. Your support helps people regain their lives and work towards greater independence. In this healing community, recovery is real. And you help make it happen.
