Mission Statement

Project Hope works in partnership with families so they can move up and out of poverty. We do this by: being a catalyst for change in the lives of families and in the systems that keep them poor; developing and providing family support solutions for homelessness and poverty; and advocating for just public policies which strengthen families. We do this in collaboration with a multitude of organizations which support these goals.

About This Cause

Project Hope is a multi-service agency at the forefront of efforts in Boston to move families up and out of poverty. We partner with low-income women with children and their families to access education, jobs, housing, and emergency services. We join them in their personal transformation, and we work for broader systems change. Fostering Transformation: Project Hope's vision is rooted in the concept of transformation, the process of gaining the tools, self–esteem and confidence necessary to take control of their lives and develop the courage to seek a better future for their children, despite the enormous challenges they face. Project Hope programs include Adult Education Services: For 28 years, Project Hope’s Adult Education Services has offered Adult Basic Education classes to women seeking their high school equivalency. Workforce Development & Employer Partnerships: Launched in 2004, this program prepares the community for entry-level and mid-level employment. Serving primarily single mothers who are unemployed or underemployed, program graduates receive intensive job search support and referrals to partner employers and training programs. Housing Services & Family Shelter: Our Housing and Shelter Services programs operate an Emergency Family Shelter, provide housing search and placement assistance, eviction prevention services, and shelter diversion services. The Family Shelter offers a caring shelter environment for 11 families at a time who have become homeless. One of the first homeless family shelters in the state and the founding site of Project Hope, the Shelter is a model for its respectful and empowering approach. We provide not only the necessities, but also the housing services and Family Partners (case managers) who bring comfort, dignity and a pathway to hope for the women and children who call the Shelter their temporary home
