About This Cause

The Survival Center strives to improve the quality of life for low-income individuals and families in Hampshire County by providing foos and other resources in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Since 1979, the Survival Center has provided immediate support to people in emergency situations and those experiencing temporary or chronic difficulty meeting their basic food needs. We serve low-income families, single parents, the elderly, veterans, homeless people, and those who are temporarily disabled or terminally ill. We serve over 4,500 low-income residents of 18 communities in Hampshire County, providing an average of 2,500 pounds of food every weekday. In addition, our Kids' Summer Food Program helps bridge the summer nutrition gap by providing groceries for tens of thousands of meals to families who rely on free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs during the school year.
