Mission Statement

The mission of Lowell Community Health Center is to provide quality, caring and culturally competent health services to the people of Greater Lowell, MA, regardless of financial status; to reduce health disparities and enhance the health of the Greater Lowell Community; and to empower each individual to maximize their overall well-being.

About This Cause

Founded in 1970, Lowell Community Health Center is a federally qualified health center serving the residents of Greater Lowell, MA. We serve more than 31,000 patients a year, along with thousands of others in our community. The majority of our patients low income, with 46% best served in a language other than English. Services include primary care (pediatrics, family and adult medicine), obstetrics and gynecology, community health education and screening, HIV services, family planning, behavioral health services, dental and eye care, and programs promoting positive youth development. Our Metta health Center is a nationally recognized program to serve refugees in a culturally appropriate setting and offering both western medicine and eastern practices including meditation, acupuncture and massage. It was founded to meet the needs of Lowell's significant Cambodian population, which is the second highest in the nation, but now serves refugees --many of them victims of torture and persecution in their homelands -- from across the globe including from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, Congo, Haiti, Iraq, and Somalia. We are located in a 165,000-square-foot facility in a renovated mill in downtown Lowell.
