Mission Statement

The Children of Haiti Project is a rare success story in education in Haiti after the devastating earthquake in 2010. It is a progressive educational program that offers a balanced meal plan, complete health care and a thorough education to prepare Haiti's future leaders to lead their communities to a sustainable and thought-through solutions for their country.

About This Cause

The Children of Haiti Project was originally in response to the devastating earthquake that shook Haiti in 2010. A group of professional educators wanted to put together a sustainable program that would affect many lives in the long term. The Children of Haiti Project, based in Delmas 33 in Port au Prince, provides a full education, 3 meals a day, full medical care as well as uniforms and all needed educational materials to the 50 children that remain in the program. The program is special in that it offers a progressive curriculum, which has been adapted to the Haitian curriculum and it follows one unique group from pre-K to the end of high school in full academic years, starting in 2010. Well into its 5th year, the program is an unparalleled success in Haiti. Late 2013 evaluators from the Universtiy of Nantes in France came to evaluate the children with an un-altered, un-adapted exam. 70% of the COHP children scored the top scores, proving that the education methods used are up to par with the best schools in Europe. Thus far the program is funded by International Schools around the world, and costs about 150K a year to run due to the thorough program, excellent teachers, meal and medical plans. Raising funds is our biggest challenge.
