About This Cause
Neurofibromatosis (NF) is the most common genetic disorder caused by a single gene. NF affects three times as many people as muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis combined. It is a neurological disorder that can cause tumors to form on the nerves anywhere in or on the body at any time. Neurofibromatosis Northeast is a resource for those who are affected by NF and provides support and understanding to patients and families. We have awarded over $2.5 million to leading NF scientists at research facilities and provide financial support to the NF Clinics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Children's Hospital Boston. NF Northeast is a prominent voice in Washington, DC working closely with Congress to secure federally funded NF research.
