About This Cause
Hope for the Children of Haiti is a 501(c)3 organization is governed by a U.S. based board of directors who volunteer their time and are dedicated to seeing the mission of HFC realized. Board members are actively involved in the operation of HFC, yet firmly believe in partnering with Haitians to transform their culture for Christ. We fulfill our mission through the operations of our orphanage and school (Marion Austin Christian School) that serve in the impoverished neighborhood of Bolosse, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Currently we house close to 100 orphans and vulnerable children in our facility and educate over 400 students through our K to 13th grade school program. We began under the name of Bless the Children Inc. in 1989 and then changed our name to Hope for the Children of Haiti Inc. in 1996. Since that time, we raised over 60 children to their adulthood. Many of these original 60 children began transitioning out of the orphanage either through adoption, graduation from school or simply moving into adulthood roles. Others have transitioned into our Post-Secondary Program which supports them in continued education or training. We currently have Haitian students studying in the U.S., Haiti and Cuba. In September of 2013, we brought 47 children into the orphanage, ages 3-11 bringing the total number of children and young adults who are living at our location to 70. We further added 28 new children in 2016 due to the Hurricane Matthew disaster.
