Mission Statement

The mission of the Adult Congenital Heart Association is to empower the congenital heart disease community by advancing access to resources and specialized care that improve patient-centered outcomes.

About This Cause

Heart defects are the number one birth defect in the United States, and thanks to medical advances in just the last decade, more children are living to adulthood. There are nearly 2 million adults living with congenital heart disease in our country, and that number grows by 5% annually—roughly 100,000 people a year. The Adult Congenital Heart Association is the only national patient advocacy organization solely dedicated to serving adults living with congenital heart disease and the healthcare community that cares for them. Founded in 1998, the Adult Congenital Heart Association is an organization begun by and dedicated to supporting individuals and families living with congenital heart disease and advancing the care and treatment available to our community. We do this through a wide and growing range of programs, services, and activities. Your support helps us take further steps toward our vision that one day every adult with congenital heart disease will receive specialized cardiac care by increasing congenital heart disease awareness, empowering congenital heart disease patients through education, advancing congenital heart disease care, advocating for legislation to support congenital heart disease patients, and contributing to congenital heart disease research. The Adult Congenital Heart Association is a national 501(c)(3) tax‐exempt non-profit organization that does not receive any government funding.
