Mission Statement
Match Education is the shared brand name of Match Charter Public School and The Match Foundation, Inc. The mission of Match Education is twofold. First, we are committed to delivering extraordinary results for the students we serve in our charter school and associate teacher training program. Second, we strive to be a source of innovation in education nationwide.
About This Cause
Our entities, using the Match Education shared brand name, focus on the following areas of work: (1) Match Public Charter School is a high-performing, innovative charter public school in Boston, serving students from PreK to 12th grade on multiple campuses across the city. The school's mission is to prepare students for success in college and beyond, particularly those who would be the first in their families to earn a college degree. Additionally, we intend this school to serve large numbers of English Language Learners. The school is widely recognized for its ability to prepare students academically for college success.* (2) The Match Associate Teacher (MAT) Program prepares candidates with 1-2 years of prior student-facing experience to serve as highly effective, first-year teachers in charter schools and turnaround schools. MATs are placed on grade-level (K-5th) or subject level (6th-12th) teams in Match Charter Public School for an intensive, year-long apprenticeship. Throughout the year, MATs are coached and mentored by leaders and teachers and slowly take on more classroom responsibilities. (3) Match Export is our vehicle for sharing the inventions we develop in our applied work. We publish what we learn in a broad range of outlets, from academic journals to the popular press, and we increasingly partner with districts, graduates schools of education, and policy makers nationally who are interested in replicating our work and learning from our applied research. *Match Charter Public School is its own local education agency (LEA). The charter receives public funding from both the state and federal governments, and is tuition-free and open to any Boston resident. It operates autonomously.
