Mission Statement
The Charlestown Lacrosse & Learning Center (CLLC) is an athletic, academic, and community service program that serves over 500 youth and adolescents living in Charlestown and its surrounding neighborhoods. The CLLC encourages students to achieve their potential both "on and off the field," by providing rewarding, enriching and diverse athletic, educational and volunteer opportunities.
About This Cause
Our program is an education-oriented, multi-service youth development program centered on academic enrichment, lacrosse, and community service. Reaching students on the field has contributed to the growth and success of our learning center, as over half of our middle-school aged, learning center-eligible lacrosse players participate in one or more learning center programs throughout the year. All of our learning center programs are offered free of cost, or at cost to learning center participants. For classes that carry a cost, and for lacrosse registration and fees, The CLLC offers scholarship support. The learning center focuses on two important components in the lives of our students: • Day-to-day schoolwork help: 1-on-1 tutoring, homework assistance, and reading groups • Academic enrichment opportunities: Creative Writing Class, healthy living programming, engineering for kids and an entrepreneur’s series • Recreation Programs: Chess Club, Escape Rooms, and Movie Nights allow us to have fun in a positive yet mind-challenging environment • Teen Mentoring: We employ at-risk teens to engage the younger students – assisting with homework, providing a fun social component, and serving as a “peer” to look up to
