Mission Statement
Samaritan Community Center is a grace-driven organization serving the hurting and hungry of Northwest Arkansas through a compassionate community of staff and volunteers. Our vision is to encourage all who enter our doors to find hope and experience positive life change. With a strong volunteer base of over 400 regularly scheduled volunteers, we focus on developing healthy, ongoing relationships with our client families. We offer multiple contacts with volunteers and staff at each visit and encourage our clients to return for multiple visits, as we understand that each family's situation is unique and often a complicated set of circumstances and events. We believe that relationships based on trust and accountability (the two keys to having input into someone's life) are the result of spending time with someone. As client families obtain encouragement, referrals and direct assistance through the SCC programs, we work towards our ultimate goal of positive life change (on a path to self-reliance).
About This Cause
Founded by a local church in 1989, the Samaritan Community Center became an independent non-profit organization in 2002. We offer a wide range of services in two locations (Rogers/Springdale) to care for the hurting and hungry of Northwest Arkansas. Utilizing a grace-based, relational approach to serving our clients, we had over 60,000 hours of volunteer service which greatly increases the personal interactions with our clients. Samaritan Community Center provided the following services in 2023: Samaritan Market: 54,337 people and families received groceries Samaritan Café: Served 63,490 warm and healthy meals through our restaurant-style "soup kitchens" in Rogers and Springdale Samaritan Care: Provided case management services to 4,500 client families Samaritan Kids: Supplied 4,000 backpacks filled with age-appropriate school supplies to NWA children; Distributed 198,165 snackpacks to children at-risk for hunger on the weekends Samaritan Shops: Our thrift stores provide 1/3 of the financial support for the SCC organization Samaritan Dental Clinic: Provided $650,000 worth of charitable dental care
