Mission Statement
To facilitate Lexington Historical Society’s role as being a leading expert in all aspects of Lexington’s history and a premier interpreter of the town’s colonial and Revolutionary War narrative while engaging the diverse Lexington and global community. The mission of the Lexington Historical Society has both national and local implications. It cares for and interprets significant Revolutionary War structures, artifacts and documents, which gives it a national and international audience. As a town historical organization, it is the focal point for the collection and interpretation of Lexington's history through the ages.
About This Cause
Founded in 1886, Lexington Historical Society is an independent non-profit passionate about preserving Lexington's history and sharing it with the public. The mission of the Historical Society is to be a premier interpreter of the events of April 1775, and the faithful steward of all of the town's history through time. We give tours of three fascinating historic sites, where significant events of the early days of the American Revolution unfolded. Visitors walk in the steps of John Hancock, Samuel Adams, Paul Revere, and George Washington! The Society provides year-round programming for all ages & interests: Lectures and book groups for adults Educational programs for school groups A summer camp Parties, picnics, and family fun Artistic and cultural exhibits and events We collaborate with community partners to record and interpret Lexington's rich diversity. The Society has extensive collections from throughout three hundred years of Lexington history, which we display in engaging exhibits in many venues throughout our community.
