Mission Statement
The Providence Center's mission is to help children and adults affected by psychiatric illnesses, emotional problems and addiction by providing treatment and supportive services within a community setting.
About This Cause
Established in 1969, The Providence Center serves over 18,000 children and adults through four program divisions. It is our goal to develop a continuum of care that meets all the needs of a client and/ or family members so that clients can move toward recovery. Referrals between program divisions are encouraged. The four divisions include: (1) Adult Services offers a comprehensive array of treatment and rehabilitation services for adults who struggle with serious and persistent mental illness or need outpatient or intensive outpatient care for mental health and substance abuse problems. Services are designed to address a client’s clinical and rehabilitative needs in the least restrictive environment possible. (2) Child and Family, which has been providing services since the mid 1980’s, includes crisis intervention; infant, toddler, and preschool therapeutic services; individual and group counseling for children and adolescents and their families; intensive outpatient programs; day and residential treatment for adolescents; substance abuse treatment; special education; and consultation and training to community agencies. Children range in age from birth – 21 years and experience moderate to serious behavioral and emotional difficulties. (3) Acute Care provides homeless individuals and those in crisis a single point of entry into service. Clients in crisis receive a mental health and/or substance abuse evaluation and are then triaged to the appropriate service(s), site, and level of care. Emergency Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. (4)Employment and Education Services (EES) provides three types of services for clients who are ready to work, go to school, or practice socialization and communication skills. The EES team consists of employment specialists, education specialists and a community integration specialist who organizes outings and classes for clients. The team works together to support clients and help build skills that will lead to success in the working world.
