About This Cause

The Hanover Theater is a nonprofit organization managed by a Board of Directors consisting of 24 members. The staff includes a full time President & CEO, Director of Education, Operations Manager, Director of Development , Director of Marketing and PR, Director of Ticketing, Director of Finance & HR, Production Manager, 2 full time and 6 part time Box Office staff, 4 general assistants, interns, and over 250 volunteers. Volunteers work primarily as theatre ushers and greeters. The restoration transformed the majestic theatre into a state-of-the-art, 2,300-seat performing arts center. The ornate proscenium and loge boxes have been re-created and the grand promenade restored to its former glory. To accommodate today’s Broadway tours, the stage depth was increased to 40’ through a land donation from the Worcester Telegram and Gazette. A glass pavilion serves as a lobby function space, and a powerful street presence. The Theatre has been preserved to its former glory and is a cultural venue serving a broad regional audience. Since its opening, the Theatre has made a profound difference in the revitalization of downtown Worcester. The Theatre has reached more than 15,000 young people through educational programs to make the theatre accessible to all members of our audience. GOALS & OBJECTIVES OF THE ORGANIZATION: The goals and objectives of the organization are to continue to offer the highest quality of programming across a wide range of performances; ensure positive patron experience through excellent customer service and a comprehensive view of the theatre-going experience; provide access to the performing arts for young and underserved audiences; play a pivotal role in the revitalization of the City of Worcester; maintain and preserve a historically and architecturally cultural landmark; and operate in a fiscally responsible manner. Our venue serves a regional audience of patrons interested in Broadway plays and musicals, musical concerts, comedy shows and other performances. We have welcomed over 250,000 patrons to date. Strong collaborations exist with the 11 colleges and universities as well as the Worcester Public Schools and non-profits serving the youth population.
