Mission Statement
Centro de Apoyo Comunitario, founded by local Latina immigrant women, hopes to nurture the strong sense of community within Upper Darby’s immigrant population and empower people to help their families, neighbors and friends. From providing English classes to income tax assistance and other help, the Center hopes to promote the well being of immigrants by providing assistant and information that helps integrate, progress and develop culturally, economically and socially.
About This Cause
Centro de Apoyo Comunitario is an all volunteer community of Latinx leaders and allies who work to create a safe space for the immigrant community in Delaware County and surrounding areas to discuss needs and seek assistance. We are community guided and programming is based on what the community requests of us from food distribution to tax preparation. We are hoping to expand programming soon to assist with the economic impact of COVID on housing and to bolster mental health from the stress of the pandemic. This is all provided by peer and ally volunteers in Spanish and other languages as we are able.
