About This Cause

Catholic Charities has much to be proud of and has had a number of success this past year. Did you know that 85% of those we served had an annual income of less than $15,000? Did you know that Catholic Charities distributed over 313 Thanksgiving Baskets to families in need? Did you know that Catholic Charities made Christmas brighter for 404 families and children through our “Very Giving Christmas” program? Did you know that Catholic Charities served over 12,814 adults and children through our Intensive Case Management / Emergency Basic Needs program and provided over $205,000 of direct relief throughout Eastern Connecticut? Did you know that our three Emergency Food Pantries distributed over 118,000 meals to families in need throughout Eastern Connecticut? Did you know that Catholic Charities and its programs have been accredited by the Council on Accreditation? Accreditation means that our organization’s programs, services, administration, and management processes have been rigorously evaluated and meet best practice standards. Achieving accreditation was not easy; it took us over a year to complete this challenging process. During that time, COA reviewed all aspects of every program service and administrative aspect of our agency. Accreditation will provide YOU with the confidence that Catholic Charities is providing the best level of service and that our services are among the best in the nation. Accreditation demonstrates OUR commitment to quality. As most of you know, accreditation is regarded as one of the key benchmarks for measuring the quality of an organization. Preparing for accreditation gave Catholic Charities an opportunity to identify its strengths and areas for improvement across all aspects of our business and more importantly how we interact with those we serve. Accreditation creates distinction among competition. Accreditation will set Catholic Charities apart from other social service providers when competing for grant funding. It will demonstrate OUR commitment and dedication to improving outcomes and safety for those we serve. Probably the most important reason for us, is that accreditation drives continuous improvement. Accreditation will demonstrate OUR commitment to remaining compliant with industry standards and best practices; containing costs, and practicing quality performance improvement. I am very proud of the work that we do and the impact that we have on those living in our community. I know that we could not do this work, if it wasn’t for your support and generosity. On behalf of the Bishop of Norwich, the Board of Directors and staff, we humbly say, thank you.
