United Way of West Central Connecticut is dedicated to advancing the common good, in our communities and beyond, by inspiring, mobilizing, and creating opportunities to improve, empower and create lasting change in our communities. United Way of West Central Connecticut’s areas of impact are Healthy Communities, Youth Opportunities, and Financial Security. While each area has a particular focus, they work together holistically to cultivate, mobilize, and distribute resources equitably. Our goal is to create long-lasting changes by addressing the underlying causes of problems.

About This Cause

United Way of West Central Connecticut is dedicated to advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security to ensure our neighbors can thrive. Our work is powered by generous supporters, community members, and partner agencies, who pledge to foster stronger communities. For over 100 years, United Way of West Central Connecticut is dedicated to advancing the common good, in our communities and beyond, by inspiring, mobilizing, and creating opportunities to improve, empower and foster thriving communities. We forge new partnerships. We find new solutions to old problems. We mobilize community resources. We inspire individuals to be changemakers. In 2023 we supported our communities. Here are some of the highlights. - Over 4,000 toys were donated during Joy of Sharing Toy Drive and distributed to local non-profits for the holidays. - United Way's Youth Board hosted the Senior Citizen Prom for over 150 senior citizens - 475 individuals partook in free tax preparation through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program - 400 new backpacks and school supplies were given to students for the start of the 2023-2024 school year - 25 high school students participated in the Walsh Summer Work Experience Program - 325 volunteers participated during the Annual Day of Caring and completed 26 projects at 13 nonprofits - 17 nonprofits received funding for health, education, and financial stability programs that benefit those living and working in Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, and Plymouth In Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, and Plymouth/Terryville, United Way of West Central Connecticut is leading the way to stronger, more resilient communities that are dedicated to advancing health, youth opportunity, and financial security, and working towards a future where everyone can reach their full potential.
