Our Mission: The Drop in Learning Center of New London fosters the academic and social development of children and promotes family engagement in the learning process.

About This Cause

The Center: A Drop in Community Learning and Resource Center (The Drop) celebrated its 50th year of providing programs to our community. This 50th year has been incredibly challenging. It is because of the generosity of our partners and people like you that The Drop continues to accept the challenge to serve the community and provide excellent programs for our children and youth. The summer enrichment program (Drop-In Camp) is an example of The Drop’s commitment to the challenge. Drop-In Camp allowed children and youth the opportunity to enjoy the summer while observing the new restriction of wearing masks and six feet social distancing. Drop-In Camp served children/youth 4-13 years old through the in-kind donations of Hygienic Art Center, Expressiones, St. Francis House Community Garden, Public Library of New London, New England Science Sailing (NESS), High Hopes Horse Sense Program, and Whalers helping Whalers. Currently, The Drop have two Hybrid School Support Supervised Care in response to COVID-19 offers support for out-of-school time that mirrors the hybrid school model and provides supervised care for families of working parents. Staff will oversee remote learning, provide homework assistance, and implement enriching play & break time for students. Post COVID_19 Pre-School Enrichment Program- The Pre-School program is essentially providing all-day care from 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM for children ages 3-5 years old. Because each child is a unique individual, staff is sensitive to their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs. The theme-based curriculum helps children prepare for kindergarten and concentrates on math concepts, letter and sound recognition, number recognition, fine motor skills, and socialization skills. Developmentally appropriate activities are provided to focus on the process of learning. Offering a variety of experiences fosters the love of learning at an early age. After School Enrichment Program - (It's where you go before you go home!) We provide a safe haven and appropriate supervision during out of school hours for working parents.
