About This Cause
Our Piece of the Pie®, Inc. (OPP®) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering youth with the key competencies needed to overcome barriers and succeed in education and employment. OPP’s unique model is centered on the personal and consistent relationship developed between each youth and a caring, committed and proactive adult staff member, a Youth Development Specialist. The youth development specialist works together with the young person to identify their goals, and create a plan to address needs across personal, workforce, and academic development. That relationship helps participants identify and overcome barriers, access support services in fields of best practice in Youth Development, Workforce Readiness, and Education. OPP is also the lead agency managing several Academic programs with various area school districts including: Opportunity Academy with Hartford Public Schools; and Learning Academy at Bloomfield Lab with Bloomfield Public Schools.
