Mission Statement
Riverfront Recapture built, manages, and maintains four public parks along the Connecticut River. More than 945,000 visitors enjoyed their Riverfront experience in 2024. Riverfront offers miles of walking trails, access to the river, picnic areas, sports fields, playgrounds, recreation, and competition, Community Rowing, Dragon Boating, festivals that reflect the diversity of the region, concerts, and more.
About This Cause
Since 1981, Riverfront built and now maintains four parks along the east and west banks of the Connecticut River, offers concerts, festivals, recreation, public sculpture, Riverwalks (paved trails), and wooded trails to the general public. Weekday or evening activities such as yoga, boot camp, and others are offered from June to August. From our Boathouse in Riverside Park, Riverfront Community Rowing is offered for ages 14-80+, for learners, recreational, and competitive rowers. Riverfront Dragon Boating is offered for ages 18-80+, in regular paddling classes as well as two community-based teams. Volunteers are always sought for assistance in groups for park clean-up days (pick your own day!), as well as for events and festivals, and office support. Looking to the future, a 2.5-mile riverwalk extension has been submitted to regulatory agencies for approval and the master plan for a future riverfront park is complete, and will move into design and engineering phases. Capital improvement projects are planned in all four existing parks, at various stages of approvals.
