Mission Statement
My Sisters’ Place is committed to ending homelessness by empowering women, families and others in Greater Hartford to achieve independence and stability in their community by providing housing and supportive services.
About This Cause
My Sisters' Place (MSP) provides a comprehensive array of services including permanent supportive housing, rental and security deposit assistance assistance programs as well as Housing Mobility Counseling. Through Mary Seymour Place, Beaumont Lofts and Sue Ann Shay Place Apartments in North Hartford as well as scattered site apartments, MSP provides Permanent Supportive Housing. Households in our permanent supportive housing programs can access My Sisters’ Place’s For the Love of Children Initiative (FLOCI) and Life Skills and Employment programming. Through FLOCI My Sisters’ Place not only provides educational and enriching afterschool and summer programming, but also provides highly individualized assistance and case management including assistance advocating for services for which their child is eligible including Individualized Education Program (IEP) and 504 plans. The Life Skills and Employment program assists residents build employment skills, access vocational training/educational programs and ultimately, secure employment. MSP's Housing Mobility Counseling program provides mobility counseling, landlord outreach, and housing search assistance to participants with Section 8 Housing Choice Program and Rental Assistance Program (RAP) subsidies with a particular emphasis on families with young children to help them move from areas of very low and low opportunity to areas of high and very high opportunity. MSP also offers multiple Rent Subsidy and Security Deposit programs.
