Mission Statement
Our Mission The Carousel Museum is a non-profit organization that preserves and exhibits antique and modern carousel art, and celebrates dedicated craftsmen, to inspire creativity, joy, and wonder. Our Vision As The Carousel Museum successfully advances its mission, its constituents and the larger public will increasingly recognize it as: the premier resource for carousel artists, historians, and enthusiasts from around the world, as well as a highly valued educational and cultural center for Bristol, CT and beyond. We believe that the way to accomplish this task is through education. We are in the business of educating the children, who are the next generation of carousel lovers.
About This Cause
The Carousel Museum is committed to be a transformational partner. Building relationships with our home community of Bristol Connecticut as well as our National and International Carousel Community. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, like so many, the museum was forced to pause and reflect on what was truly important. We used this time to evaluate what institutional vision and values truly are and what we want them to be. Since March 2019, the Carousel Museum has worked hard to become financially stable, survived the Pandemic, and completed a Strategic Plan. Including an 11-phase Capital Improvement Plan to update our buildings and grounds and plans to bring a Carousel to downtown Bristol. With support from the Barnes Foundation, Inc., the Museum was able to create our Strategic Plan 2023 - 2027. Leadership Greater Hartford and Ted Carrol guided and facilitated this seven-month process. This process allowed us to discuss and review our mission, vision, collection, and building and the needs of our staff, visitors, volunteers, and community through discussions with community partners and deep internal organizational reflation. The result is a truly broad and transformational guiding document that will allow the Museum to make a transformational impact in our community while building our sustainability model and becoming more inclusive. Leading this unique and joyful organization in partnership with our Board of Trustees, staff, and volunteers is an honor and privilege. There is so much work to be done in Carousel preservation and education. We hope that you will join us at one of our many programs or community events so that we can share our passion and dedication for this incredibly underserved American art form. Thank you for being so supportive, we cannot wait to share our collection, vision, and passion for both our home city of Bristol and the world of Carousel.
