Our mission is to engage young people as active partners in their own development as they seek to become thriving, self-sufficient adults and agents of change within their local and global communities.
About This Cause
Directions For Our Youth (DFOY) works with students and families in New York City, one of the country’s largest and most diverse school systems, by using out-of-school-time to enhance the value of public education. Almost 30 years ago, our founders, both New York City public school graduates, wanted to nurture the talent existing within the city’s public schools, which is why our programs meet students and families where they are – in their schools and in their communities. Today, DFOY serves 2000 children and youth in 10 programs throughout New York City.
