Mission Statement

Equality, Education, Employment - Friends of Ethiopian Jews (FEJ) works with grassroots Ethiopian-Israeli organizations fighting discrimination in Israel, supporting Ethiopian Israelis in higher education and technology certifications, job placement programs and many other programs and projects that raise the standard of living for the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel. FEJ assists only programs and projects led by Ethiopian-Israelis themselves, putting them in charge.

About This Cause

FEJ is an all-volunteer, mission-based, 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization with overhead of less than 5%. FEJ supports outstanding Ethiopian Israeli programs run by Ethiopian Jews themselves such as Tebeka (legal aid), Olim Beyahad (job placement), Tech Career Technology Training, Friends by Nature (youth programs), the Association of Ethiopian Jews (AEJ) (advocacy) Wuste Tsega - Center for Culturally Adapted Therapy (mental health), the Beta Israel Business Community (BIBC) (economy) and Keren Hanan Aynor Scholarships, as well as the Shavu Banim Community Center in Beersheva (programs for children, youth, elderly and families. The FEJ website has detailed descriptions and videos of these programs on its website at www.friendsofethiopianjews.org . For 26 years, FEJ has assisted the Ethiopian Jewish community to achieve full empowerment and equality. Programs focus on education, employment and equality, plus changing the public narrative in Israel to view Ethiopian Jews as strong, brave, accomplished people rather than helpless victims.
