Mission Statement

The SEED School of Maryland (SEED Maryland) is a statewide, public, college-preparatory boarding school offering an extraordinary learning and living experience in preparation for college and beyond.

About This Cause

Our mission is to present students from across the state with an exemplary education and living experience which equips them with the academic, critical thinking, and social skills that they will need in college and beyond. We believe that together we can do great things. We accomplish this through caring relationships, collaboration, consistency, accountability and high expectations for all who teach, learn, live and serve in our community. Our campus is located in Southwest Baltimore City on 52 acres. 400 students in grades 6-12 live on campus from Sunday evening through Friday afternoon. As the only tuition-free, public boarding school in the state, we serve underresourced students from across Maryland. Once students meet eligibility requirements, admission is by lottery. SEED is not a charter school and students are not admitted based upon academic transcripts. SEED School Maryland is one of four SEED schools across the nation. Other schools are based in Washington D.C., Miami, and Los Angeles.
