Mission Statement
Sea Scout Ship 6 is a year round, co-ed, youth-led and adult-advised unit of the Sea Scouts, BSA in Norwalk, CT. The teens members age 14 and up are responsible for all aspects of their program and perform at a high level both on land and at sea. Ship 6 is chartered by the Norwalk Sail and Power Squadron and was founded in 1957. Our primary training vessel is a Tripp 37 (37') sailboat named Celebration.
About This Cause
Sea Scouting is a program where teenage girls and boys develop character, resourcefulness and confidence through the challenges of sailing and boating. The co-ed teenage Ship 6 crew is responsible for all aspects of their program including maintenance of their vessel and gear, planning for trips and other activities, gaining knowledge and skill in boating and seamanship, recruiting, fundraising, and much more, through which life skills are leaned. Ship 6 is a very active unit and participates in offshore racing events both during the day and at night.
