Mission Statement
This mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
About This Cause
For 61 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Queens (BGCMQ) has provided quality afterschool programming that enhances the educational, emotional, social, and physical development of our youth. Our members seek refuge in our Club and benefit from our safe, stable and positive environment, supportive staff, and engaging, constructive activities. The BGCMQ was originally known as the South Queens Boys & Girls Club. The organization’s name was changed in 2013 to reflect our growing service area, which extends throughout Queens and beyond, including Richmond Hill, Ozone Park, Jamaica, St. Albans, Woodhaven, Howard Beach, Kew Gardens, and parts of Brooklyn. The Club impacts almost 4,000 youth between the ages of 5 and 18 annually and serves approximately 900 youth each day. In 2014, we expanded and renovated our 35,000 square foot Clubhouse. It is comprised of the Helen Marshall Education Center, a regulation sized gymnasium, a pre-teen center, and a fully equipped technology lab. We also have a Teen Center and Café, which includes a dedicated technology lab, a college lab, classroom space, a lounge, and a viewing area overlooking the new gymnasium. The building is fully accessible and ADA compliant.
