Mission Statement
Children's Leukemia Research Association supports research efforts towards finding the causes and a cure for leukemia and assists families in meeting the financial obligations incurred in blood cancer treatment.
About This Cause
Children’s Leukemia Research Association (CLRA) was founded in 1965 by a group of concerned and dedicated volunteers to support research efforts towards finding the causes and cure for leukemia and to assist families in meeting the financial obligations incurred in blood cancer treatment. CLRA’s Research Grant program provides grants to doctors nationwide. Our volunteer Medical Advisory Committee reviews submitted proposals and determines those who are conducting the most promising research into leukemia, in the hopes of isolating the causes and finding a cure. Projects can be exploratory in nature and build on prior work, without duplicating funding from other sources. Our grant recipients depend on our funding to support early-stage research and data collection to propel their efforts further. CLRA’s Patient Aid program provides co-pay assistance for reimbursement of leukemia/blood cancer related medical and pharmacy bills to children and adults with a blood cancer diagnosis. Patients and their health care provider apply to the program each year. Upon acceptance, claims are reviewed and subsequently reimbursed directly to the patient. Items covered under the plan include prescription co-payments, office visits, routine exams and blood tests, other diagnostic and lab tests, IV chemotherapy, IVIG therapy, radiation therapy, post-bone marrow transplant therapy. Patients must have medical insurance to be considered for the program. Medicaid recipients are not eligible. There are no income requirements.
